Social Activist and Human Rights Defender

Manuel Gómez Vázquez, or Mixcoátl Mikistónal, is originally from Morelos and descends from pure indigenous people and Zapatista fighters. He holds a degree in Law and a Master's in Political and Social Sciences. He has been recognized with the title of Doctor "Honoris Causa" by the Claustrum Doctoralis Universum Vitalis, the World Royal Academy for the preservation of cultures and mother languages, and the Inter-American University.  

Gómez Vázquez is a social activist and human rights defender, with a particular focus on agrarian and indigenous issues. He has worked as an advisor and defender of Indigenous Communities and is a columnist for La Jornada Morelos. Additionally, he serves as a researcher and professor at various universities.  

In recognition of his leadership and service, he has been appointed Supreme Chief of the Lordship of Cuauhnáhuac and representative of the 12 towns, as well as Indigenous and Pluricultural Superior Governor in the State of Morelos. He is the founder, member, and promoter of the Tlahtocán Tlahuica in the State of Morelos. In 2024, he was declared "Citizen of the Year" and received the "Dr. José Arcadio Chávez Soto" award from the Rotary clubs of Cuernavaca, Morelos, belonging to District 4185.
