Dance for World Peace

"When dance speaks, the universe listens"

We are pleased to invite you to learn about, and participate in, the Dance for World Peace, a global initiative that seeks to unite indigenous people, traditional dances, and the general public in a sacred dance for peace and harmony on our beloved Earth.

The Dance for World Peace is a movement that calls everyone—through dance, ceremonies, meditation, or prayer—to express a message of unity and hope. Each participant shares their cultural or traditional richness, strengthening bonds between nations and promoting mutual respect.

Traditions give identity to peoples, and culture gives meaning to values.

  • Event Date: Annually, May 17
  • Time: 11:00 AM (local time)
  • In locations where the zenith passage occurs (when the sun aligns exactly over a specific point at noon), dates may vary to align the dance or ceremony with this sacred calendar moment.

We invite you to organize, wherever you are, a group, event, or ceremony to join simultaneously around the world. It doesn’t matter if you participate as part of a group or individually—every participation contributes to this collective effort for peace.

What is the Dance for World Peace?

The Dance for World Peace arises as a call from indigenous people to all of humanity. It is a simple yet profound invitation:
to gather on the same day and at the same time, from all continents, to offer a sacred dance for peace.

This is not a performance.
It is about honoring a tradition and a culture,
and remembering that peace is not a dream:
it is a decision, a commitment, and a collective practice.

PEACE WITHIN
PEACE WITHOUT

In your homes, in your workplaces, in your communities, and in your nations.

Origin of the Movement

On May 17, 2025, communities from all continents came together for the first time in a single ritual gesture: to dance for peace, unity, and harmony with the Earth.

This first edition was initiated by the Mexica Indigenous Nation, together with a circle of Grandparents and representatives of indigenous peoples from different countries.

On that day, we understood that something new was being born: it was not just an event, it was a living network.

Through dance and the conscious intention of peace, a space was opened that continues to grow — a space where every culture, philosophy, religion, or tradition can contribute its strength, its beauty, its history, and its prayer.

How to participate

Three steps to be part of the Dance for World Peace

1.     Unity

Organize a sacred dance in your community… or join one that already exists near you.

You decide how to participate:
Bring together your community, family, cultural group, school, sacred place, or municipality.
Choose a traditional, symbolic, or specially created dance for this day.

You can create your own dance space in:
- a community hall or cultural center
- a ceremonial space
- nature
- in collaboration with your local municipality, etc.
Likewise, participants—within their own dance or ceremony—can dedicate a moment, or 2 or 3 dances, with the intention of the Dance for World Peace.

If you cannot organize a dance, consult the Venue Map and join one nearby.
