Tony Méndez, also known asToxchtli Men, is a fundamental figure in the history of national rock, remembered for his path as a musician in the iconic bandKerigmaand for his work as a creator of spaces that marked generations, such asLa Rockola(1980–1984) andRockotitlán(1985–2004). These forums were breeding grounds for the birth of many legendary bands and became the sound temple where thousands of young people found thesoundtrack of their lives.
ButTony is much more than a rock icon: he is a seeker of wisdom, an tireless researcher, and a heart in service of our roots. He has walked alongside groups that guard the pre-Hispanic legacy, actively participating inancestral ritualsthat connect us with the memory of indigenous peoples, promoting thereturn to the indigenous heart, to thespirit of Anáhuac.
Currently, he is about to give birth to one of his deepest projects: the book"The Unknown Side of the Anahuatl Continent", a work that arises from rigorous research in codices and original sources, proposing ahistorical and comparative retrospectiveof history told from the voice of the peoples and compiled by the teacherEstrella Newman. A vital contribution to recover the true memory and rebuild our understanding of what we were and continue to be.Tony Méndez is a bridge between music, word, and spirit; a prism that reflects the art, resistance, and wisdom of deep Mexico.
