Researcher and Documentarian
Juan Antonio De la Torre Magdaleno, born in 1961 in the Federal District, is an individual with a diverse and multifaceted background. He began his training as a Certified Clinical Analyst and has explored areas such as drawing, photography, and film, having studied at the New York Film Academy. Although he did not complete his degree in Biochemical Engineering (ITRV), he became the first certified Industrial Diving Technician in Mexico.
De la Torre founded OCEATEC, the first Mexican company for deep diving and offshore operations to obtain international classification. His company resolved emergencies for Pemex, some of which were patented. Later, he acquired the oceanographic research vessel RV "Columbus Iselin" and transformed it into the DSV OCEATEC.
In addition to his work in the industry, De la Torre also ventured into politics, seeking ways to turn residents into informed and active citizens. More recently, he has focused his efforts on film and video production, creating campaigns and videos with political, business, artistic, and environmental messages. In recent years, De la Torre has used his skills to raise awareness to recover national history and identity as well as to address environmental issues, such as the pollution of rivers and aquifers like those in the Riviera Maya and seismic risks in Mexico City.
