Nanita - Grandmother Elder

Grandmother Elder Macedonia Blas Flores, an indigenous Otomi woman from our deep Mexico, whose life has been an unwavering offering in defense of human rights, the dignity of indigenous peoples, and the healing of the social fabric through love, medicine, and ancestral wisdom.

Grandmother Macedonia has made history as the first indigenous woman in Mexico nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, and has been awarded the Nelson Mandela Medal, a testament to her struggle for justice, equality, and non-violence towards women.

A living bearer of tradition, she is a midwife, medicine woman, head of traditional Otomi dance, and defender of ancestral culinary culture as a traditional cook, thus being a pillar of her community and a guide for new generations.

Her example, commitment, and energy deeply inspire us on this common path for the spiritual, cultural, and community resurgence of Anáhuac and all indigenous peoples of the world.
