Temachtiani Scientist and Mathematician
Professor Carlos Carrillo Suárez is recognized as an authority on pre-Columbian mathematics, dedicating his life to the study and dissemination of the Nepohualtzintzin, an ancient Mesoamerican calculation tool. His work has allowed for the reintroduction of this ancestral knowledge into contemporary education, integrating it into educational programs at universities such as the University of Texas at San Antonio and the National University of Rosario, Argentina.
In addition to his academic work, Professor Carrillo Suárez has promoted a social project to encourage the use of the Nepohualtzintzin among young people, seeking to strengthen cultural identity through mathematics. This project includes the integration of the Nepohualtzintzin into curricula, specialized teacher training, the creation of community learning centers, the organization of ancestral mathematics competitions and olympiads, and the establishment of international partnerships.
