Storyteller and Guardian of Ancestral Wisdom

Grandmother Cenzoncíhuatl, Rosamaría Durand, is an oral storyteller who weaves imagination and ancestral wisdom. For over 30 years, she has created tales that connect children and adults with the worlds of the beings of the forest, the sky, the water, the wind, and the fire, reflecting the worldview of the Sacred Mexhica Earth.

Since 1999, her work as a storyteller has led her to be recognized internationally, being awarded in 2018 by the Cultural Heritage Institute of the Arab Emirate of Sharjah. Through her radio program "The Universe in a Tale," she promotes the importance of storytellers.

Her path has intertwined with the culture of the Anáhuac Valley and the stories of her identity. Since 2004, she has walked alongside the 13 Grandmothers of the World, guided by Grandmother Red Spider Woman, Cheyenne Margaret Behan. She has also received guidance from Nanantzin Egda Stivalet, from the calpulli Yolokoamistonal, who gave her a ceremonial staff, symbolizing her commitment to Mexhica traditions and her role as a ceremonial leader of the rituals of Mother Ixcacao.

Grandmother Cenzoncíhuatl continues to weave a sacred tapestry between cultures and the flowery word, transmitting ancestral wisdom.
